  1. This is Mark’s first introduction to us about what could be found in a typical synagogue during Jesus’ day. What is surprisingly NOT there? What is surprisingly there?
  2. What does it mean for Jesus to teach with authority?
  3. Would would it have meant for the preachers for Jesus to properly teach with authority even though they were not the Messiah?
  4. This doesn’t seem to be the type of battle Satan wants to be in. What is the ordinary way that Satan attacks the world and the church?
  5. What is the Bible teaching us when it mentions this kind of demon activity almost nowhere other than with Christ and the Apostles?
  6. If you were a regular worshiper in a synagogue around the time of Jesus who thought that the non-Jewish world alone had a problem with following Satan, how would this have corrected you?
  7. How is the authority of Jesus over Satan a sweet comfort to Christians?
  8. Are Christians ever instructed to talk to Satan or demons?
