1. Those who come to Jesus only for His gifts will eventually turn away. 
2. Those who stay with Jesus do so because He has the words of life. 
   1. Jesus preached the true way to eternal life
   2. Jesus accomplished all that was necessary for eternal life 
   3. Jesus’ words are empowered by the Spirit to be life-giving

1. 1. Why did all of these people who were ready to make Jesus their king suddenly desert Him?
   2. Why does Jesus talk about seeing the Son of Man lifted up to the people who are about to leave?
   3. What reason does Jesus give for why these people leave him in verse 63?
   4. Why did the disciples stay with Jesus even after everyone left?
   5. What does it mean that Jesus has the words of life (or in v63 that His words are Spirit and Life)?
   6. What are reasons that people you know have rejected Jesus? Are there any reasons why you have found it hard to remain with Him? How does God’s word, and this passage in particular, answer those fears and questions?
