  1. How did God show mercy to Rehoboam before chapter 12 (before Egypt came to attack)?

  2. Blessings and prosperity are not bad in themselves, so why do they often parted with a turning away from the Lord?

  3. What was God’s purpose for sending the Pharaoh to destroy Jerusalem? Where had He promised to do this?

  4. How would you describe the difference in Rehoboam at the end of his reign in comparison to at the beginning?

  5. What is the difference between the humility of the Lord Jesus Christ and the humility of Rehoboam?

  6. How would this passage have pastored the returned exiles? What warnings are there for them? What encouragements? What promises?

  7. How is sin, even enjoyable sin, slavery? Why is living as a slave of Christ the Lord better than as a slave of sin or self?
