John 15:18-16:4

Faith in Christ unites us with God's love for Him

This means that we share in Him, treated as part of His body.  His death and resurrection count for us.  Our sin has been removed, our punishment has already been received, and death has been beaten.  Most importantly, we share in His relationship with God the Father.  By faith in Christ, we can know the love the Father has for Him.

Faith in Christ unites us with the World's Hatred for Him

Just as God will receive us as He receives Jesus, this also means that the world will be inclined to respond to us as they respond to Jesus.  Clinging to, loving, treasuring the Gospel will mean we treasure the things that the world hates about Him - things that we, naturally - before we were saved - hated too.

God is Faithful to Sustain Us as We Cling to His Son

His Word and His Spirit reveal, remind, and deliver the treasure that Christ won for us on the Cross - adoption as beloved daughters and sons of God.  These, along with His sovereignty over all things, He works so that we might never give up the Gospel, no matter what the cost.  Faith treasures and clings to the glory, love, and joy that are ours in Christ - resting in the promise that the glory of the love of God will far outweigh the pain of the rejection of the World.
