John 12:36-50

Christ was rejected by the people who claimed to be waiting for Him.  How could this be?

Christ's rejection by His people didn't make them rebels who needed to be saved from their sin, it showed that they already were.
Christ's rejection by His people was part of God's plan to save them, so that even those who are responsible for His cross could be saved by it.

The reasons that we would have to reject Christ are the very reasons that we need Him.

If you can't see the glory of the suffering of Christ on the cross, you wouldn't be convinced it was true by anything - no matter how miraculous.  It's not rejected because people can't see the trustworthiness of it - it's rejected because people don't see the glory of it.

The glory of the cross is this:

The Gospel that shows we're condemned is glorious because it is the only thing that saves us from condemnation.  The Gospel that shows we're alienated from God is glorious because it is the only thing that reconciles us to Him.
