John 11:1-16

Jesus is told that His dear friend Lazarus is near the point of death and out of great love for His friends, He intentionally delays in coming to see him so that when he does arrive Lazarus has already been dead for days. Jesus is about to perform His greatest sign, which would be a sign of what He would accomplish by His death. Jesus' glory is directly tied to the joy of those who love Him. The more God reveals Jesus to be glorious, the stronger our joy and faith in Him will be. The glory of Jesus most clearly shone in His death and resurrection. It is this that God uses everything at His disposal to draw His loved one's attention to out of His great love for them. God works all things to glorify Jesus for the cross, and for the everlasting joy of those He loves - and those two things are ultimately the same thing.
