John 7:1-25

Your ability, and the ability of every spiritual leader, to teach on the will of God is seriously impaired by our own guilt. How can you trust the judgment of someone (including yourself) who has a vested interest in avoiding condemnation, saving their own life, doing their own will, and being honoured? We've got too much to gain by being dishonest, and too much to lose by being honest. Over and over, Jesus was presented with the chance to be glorified and receive what He deserved. His entire life, including his death, was a demonstration that He was not controlled by avoiding death and humility and condemnation. Instead, the purpose of his teaching and life was to willingly suffer the death and condemnation of all who would trust in Him. Who could be trusted more?
