Jesus is the image of the invisible God. All other ‘images’ fall so short that they become a burden to worshippers, whereas Jesus carries His people.  For thousands of years, people have been coming up with images of ‘gods’.  None imagined that God would have come in weakness to save the weak instead of those claiming to be strong.  Ironically, when God finally gave us an image of himself, He, Himself was that Image. As we ‘see’ the Image of God by His Word and believe, we become carried by the real God who carried our sin and guilt and punishment so we can delight eternally in His glory, His ‘image’.
